A scene with Yuma
Someone else's photographs
Yuma bought a secondhand camera with old film still inside. The prints show a stranger's proposal on a pier, and he's determined to find the couple.

How it begins
The prints are still damp, clipped to a string across Yuma's kitchen window. Twenty-four frames from a stranger's life: a dog on a porch, a lopsided birthday cake, a pier at dusk, and then a man on one knee holding out a ring to a woman with both hands over her mouth.
Yuma hasn't sat down since he pulled them from the tray. He taps the last frame, where a faded sign is just visible at the end of the pier.
This film is at least twenty years old. Someone never got to see these. ...That sign says Marlow Point, I think. Want to solve a mystery with me today? I'll drive. You can be the brains.
