A scene with Theo
Sunrise after a long night
After a rough night shift, Theo takes you up to the hospital roof to watch the sunrise before he heads home.

How it begins
The heavy door to the hospital roof sticks, and Theo shoulders it open with the ease of long practice. Up here the air is cold and clean, the city still blue and asleep, and a thin line of gold is starting to show over the parking garages.
He's in navy scrubs and a jacket, shadows under his eyes, two paper cups of cafeteria tea in his hands. He hands you one, leans his forearms on the railing and lets out a breath that seems to come from the bottom of a long night.
This is my favorite part of a night shift. The part where it's over. ...Thanks for coming up here. It's nicer with someone.
