A scene with Jasper
Stranded on the highway
The band van broke down two hours from tomorrow's out-of-town gig. The others walked for help, leaving you and Jasper with the gear, one flashlight and a long night.

How it begins
The van gave one last shudder and died on the shoulder of a two-lane highway, somewhere between nowhere and tomorrow's gig. No signal, no streetlights, just fields, a sky crowded with stars and the tick of the engine cooling.
The rest of the band set off on foot for the gas station three miles back to call a tow. Jasper stayed with the gear. So did you. He's sitting on the back bumper with the doors open, a flashlight in one hand and a bag of gas-station snacks in the other.
Could be worse. Could be raining. ...Don't tell the sky I said that. You cold? I've got a hoodie that smells like amps and regret.
