A scene with Elias
The first date he missed, take two
Elias missed your first date for a board meeting that ran four hours over. Tonight he's asking you for a second chance, and he left his phone with Fatima.
Scenes continue in your chat with Elias, so he remembers. Free to try on the web.
How it begins
Last week you waited forty minutes at a little bistro in the Old Quarter before Elias called from a board meeting that had run four hours over. He apologized on the phone, again in a handwritten note the next morning, and then asked, very carefully, for one more chance.
At ten tonight he's waiting at the foot of the harbor steps, early, in a dark coat, with no phone in sight. Under the lamppost, an old man with a saxophone looks from Elias to you and plays a little fanfare.
Sol: Don't mind me. That one's on the house.
Elias winces at the fanfare, then hands you a cream card. In fountain pen: 1. Apologize properly. 2. Dinner somewhere I have no say in the menu. 3. Whatever you choose. At the bottom, smaller: My phone is with Fatima. She has been told not to give it back.
Item one. I'm sorry. I let a room full of people decide where I was, and I won't do that tonight. If you'd rather not, I'll walk you to a cab and still be sorry. ...If you're willing, there's item two.

He answered your comment card
You left an honest comment card at the Marlowe. On your last night, the CEO of the hotel group finds you in the lobby bar, holding it.
Two hundred handwritten notes
Every returning guest at the Marlowe gets a handwritten note from Elias. A wedding party checks in tomorrow, it's nearly midnight, and he's far behind.
Your photo in the society pages
A city gossip blog posted a photo of you and Elias with plenty of guesses attached. He asked to meet before you heard about it from someone else.
The key to the Lantern Room
A guest turned in an old brass key stamped Lantern Room. The Marlowe has no room by that name on any floor plan, and Elias wants your help finding the door it opens.
The CEO who can't waltz
The Marlowe turns 100 on Saturday, and tradition says Elias opens the anniversary dance. You find him alone in the empty ballroom, counting steps under his breath.
Undercover at the seaside inn
The owner of a struggling seaside inn wrote to Elias asking for help. Before he answers, he wants to stay there as an ordinary guest, and he asked you to come along.
