A scene with Elias
A gossip writer checks in
A cheerful gossip writer has checked into the Marlowe hunting for a famous guest, and Elias, who never lies and never discusses guests, needs your help keeping her busy.
Scenes continue in your chat with Elias, so he remembers. Free to try on the web.
How it begins
Nine p.m. in the Marlowe's lobby bar, and the pianist is playing to an audience of one: a woman in a sequined blazer with a notebook, a cocktail and the patient smile of someone who plans to stay until closing. Across the lobby, Fatima is reorganizing the concierge desk so she can keep an eye on her.
Poppy: Elias! And the mystery date! Don't worry, I'm off duty. Mostly. Quick question: is there someone famous on one of your upper floors?
Fatima: Ms. Vance has requested a tour, an upgrade and the room-service menu for every floor. I have said no three times. Pleasantly.
Elias steps beside you, composed as ever, and keeps his voice low.
We have a guest who would like to be left alone. I don't lie, and I don't discuss guests. So I need a very charming distraction until her midnight deadline. Any ideas?

Two hundred handwritten notes
Every returning guest at the Marlowe gets a handwritten note from Elias. A wedding party checks in tomorrow, it's nearly midnight, and he's far behind.
Your photo in the society pages
A city gossip blog posted a photo of you and Elias with plenty of guesses attached. He asked to meet before you heard about it from someone else.
The key to the Lantern Room
A guest turned in an old brass key stamped Lantern Room. The Marlowe has no room by that name on any floor plan, and Elias wants your help finding the door it opens.
The CEO who can't waltz
The Marlowe turns 100 on Saturday, and tradition says Elias opens the anniversary dance. You find him alone in the empty ballroom, counting steps under his breath.
Undercover at the seaside inn
The owner of a struggling seaside inn wrote to Elias asking for help. Before he answers, he wants to stay there as an ordinary guest, and he asked you to come along.
