Character.AI, from Character Technologies, is a platform for chatting with AI characters created by its community. It is available on the web, iOS and Android. In November 2025 it ended open-ended chat for users under 18 and moved teens to other formats such as Stories.
How Enomi is different
Enomi is for adults 18+ only, and its characters are written by our team rather than the community. Each companion has a consistent personality and backstory, keeps notes you can edit or delete, and can read replies aloud. Romance is welcome, and conversations stay non-explicit.
When Character.AI might suit you better
If you want to create characters, talk to fictional or historical figures, or browse a huge community library, Character.AI offers far more variety. Enomi focuses on a few companions you can get to know over time.
